Application / fruit concentrate

Thermal equipment for fruit concentrates.

Fruit concentrate is a product duty, not a fixed viscosity class. The concentration range, fruit type, temperature and pulp content influence equipment selection. A tube-in-tube sterilizer enquiry should cover the thickest concentrate and the minimum flow you intend to operate.

Configuration priorities

What to specify for this duty.

01

Use Brix together with rheology

State soluble solids and viscosity at relevant temperatures. Brix does not replace a flow-property measurement. Explain whether the product is clarified, contains pulp or carries fibres. Include changes in concentration across the planned product range so that the limiting duty can be identified.

02

Check heating, pumping and run length

The thermal duty, product pressure and fouling behaviour interact. Share inlet conditions, planned operating hours and any experience with deposits or burn-on. Heat-recovery options should be evaluated against the available temperature differences and cleaning requirement rather than a generic saving percentage.

03

Make the supply interface explicit

Identify the upstream evaporator or storage arrangement and the downstream aseptic tank or filler. Required outlet temperature and available utilities establish the cooling duty. The equipment quotation should separate included modules from connections to equipment already in your plant.

A useful first enquiry

Bring the product.
We’ll discuss the equipment.

You do not need every value to start. Share what is known and identify what needs review. A clear product brief helps define configuration, included modules and the decisions that affect the quotation.

  • Fruit type, Brix range and pulp fraction
  • Viscosity at inlet and process temperatures
  • Nominal flow, turndown and expected run length
  • Upstream feed and downstream filling requirements

Practical answers

Before you specify.

Does the sterilizer also concentrate the product?

No. Concentration and sterilization are separate duties. Identify the evaporator or other upstream equipment in the enquiry.

Can a clarified juice use a plate exchanger instead?

Possibly. Compare the actual solids, viscosity, thermal duty, cleaning and passage requirements; there is no universal winner.

Discuss your equipment

From product requirements to a defined scope.

Send your product, target flow and packaging needs. The equipment quotation should identify what is included, what connects to your existing line and which process values still need confirmation.
